Ostfalen means the area from Hildesheim to Magdeburg. In this area, monasteries of important families were created in the 9th century: in Wendhusen, Lamspringe and in Gandersheim. Ostfalen became the heartland of the Saxon royalty so that from then on Saxony was spoken of this region.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
